Hello new and current people!! Come along and have chat and get to know us better.
New or nearly new people please just turn up and we’ll introduce ourselves, hear what your starting point is and give you a verbal introduction to Extinction Rebellion, a new members’ handbook and some training on our communication systems.
Regulars, please attend this to add to the support of new members. It is also a regular skills share for existing members to offer and receive useful skills and methods to support XR Derby. The training room, that the Events Circle has booked for us, opens onto a kitchen for making your own hot and cold drinks so bring stuff for that and any food you’d like to share. It has tables and plug sockets. If you wanted to bring your laptop to show, for example, the website or give Basecamp training, or work on paper you can.
We’ve moved venue and day due to feedback and to avoid too many clashes.
Derby Women’s Centre is at 4 Leopold Street, Derby, DE1 2HE. Google Map of Derby Women’s Centre
Ring the doorbell and we’ll let you in. The building has wheelchair access and the training room is on the ground floor.
It is 12 minutes walk from Derby Bus Station and a short walk from the City Centre. There is room to store bicycles inside and there is car parking nearby. If you are coming from Mickleover/Royal Derby Hospital way, there is a bus stop for ‘The Royal’ bus right outside the back of Derby Women’s Centre on Lara Croft Way just before the roundabout.
Walking directions: From the centre of Derby City Centre, walk up the hill from the Spot and take Osmaston Road (St Peter’s Street behind you, The Money Shop on your left and The Neptune pub on your right.) Walk to the roundabout and cross it to turn right onto Lara Croft Way (dual carriageway), walking on the far side of it. Derby Women’s Centre is the third building on the left that has a boundary on Lara Croft Way. Please look this up yourself before starting out.
This will continue the first Thursday of every month from February:
Thu 6 February
Thu 5 March
Thu 2 April and so on.
