XR Derby is at the INTERNATIONAL REBELLION – LONDON 7th – 19th October

What the Rebellion needs now is more people, especially overnight/early morning. According to a rebel on the ground, “Whenever the numbers get low, the police start moving in.”

If you can arrive in the next two or three days that could make all the difference.

Be sure to take the precautions explained below.

Getting there

Some are going down by train on Friday evening. We have two coaches going as day trips:
Please read the instructions carefully on those booking links. If you want to go just one way, you can make it clear in your booking that you would like to do that.

Affinity Group

However you decide to join us you will need to join an affinity group (if you have not done so already) by completing the form linked to below and you should take the following precautions:

Althought the majority of people going to the October Rebellion in London are not seeking arrest, it cannot be ruled out as a possibility. It is therefore sensible to take the precaution of registering with a back office in Derby. This is so that the people you need to be informed are informed and we can liaise with arrestee support in London.
If you are going to any of the XR actions in London please fill in this form to check both affinity group and emergency contact details:

Staying in touch

Please download the Signal app if you have a smart phone. Signal is an app for sending and receiving encrypted texts and calls via the Internet and mobile data. You can find it online in your app store.

You would also benefit from the Telegram broadcast app which will mean you can receive messages from XRUK and our Love Rebellion site.
The two Telegram channels are:

Alternatively buddy up with someone with a smart phone.

The protest camp will be illegally blocking a street (with full prior knowledge of the police). XR Derby cannot 100% guarantee the safety of any person at the protest camp. There will also be training offered on site and you are encouraged to do your own research before you go. Here is a good starting point

Know Your Rights

If you are going to London in October, and have not done so already, then we recommend you join this project on Basecamp:  Find useful information on this in the section caled ‘Docs & Files’.  Email if you have any problems.

Here’s a Written briefing for the rebellion.  Here’s a previous update with more tips:

If you would like to support the Love Rebellion, but can’t make it, here are some things we really need doing:

1. Please consider donating: Every day, police have been seizing more essential items including food, tents and disabled toilets. We urgently need donations to the October Rebellion Crowdfunder to help replace what’s been taken. Together, we’ve raised over £680,000 and rising. To keep our rebellion growing, we need £1m by the end of the week. Please give what you can now:

2. For those Rebels who cannot take action on the street, we are asking that you flood all Government Departments with complaints via phone, email, or any other means, for their failure to take a stand in the face of the sixth mass extinction.

3. Promote the Rebellion through all available social media channels. Share our posts – links to all our channels are below.

#EverybodyNow Sisters united stronger than ever! Helping hold our site with strength and love 🧡 Join the @ExtinctionR for the sake of all our futures.

4. Talk to friends, family and colleagues about the climate crisis and the October rebellion. Explain why we are there, why traditional campaigning has failed and remind them of the history of change. Here are some key points

5. Contact your local MP to ask for their support for Rebellion. This will help defer strong police action. Find you MP’s contact details here Be polite but clear and give your postcode.

6. Contact TV and radio stations and help to make our case.

Listen to how Dave and Edward explained it on BBC Radio Derby on Sunday:

Hear how Mary put it in a nutshell as part of the Monday morning bulletin:

7. Become an Earth Protector and support making Ecocide an international crime like genocide. “The International Criminal Court … has had the effect of putting tyrants everywhere on notice that they can no longer act with impunity. If ecocide were declared a crime by the ICC, this could have a similarly daunting effect on those corporate tyrants who currently know they can get away with devastating the world’s “sacrifice zones” where they are pillaging the earth’s resources for profit.” Jeremy Lent, Author

This Rebellion is for all of us.
However you can show support, contribute, and feel part of a historic moment in the history of British civil disobedience, we are asking that you do so.

Thanks everyone!
