2020 has been a year of tipping points. Everywhere you look, a collective rage is growing.
People know the truth: the Government is failing to do what’s necessary to keep us safe. They ignored the warnings about coronavirus and let tens of thousands die. Now they’re ignoring warnings of 4˚C of warming from their official Committee on Climate Change, a warning that could result in billions of deaths – with racially marginalised communities, and those in the Global South on the front line.
It’s totally fucked. The social contract between the government and its citizens is broken. Enough is enough. We have an opportunity NOW as we emerge from the pandemic to make the change necessary, but business-as-usual is fighting to regain its hold. We can’t let that happen.
We cannot carry on like this. The system is killing us.
Beginning on 1st September, the Rebellion returns to the streets of the UK – On that day the UK parliament starts re-sitting after the summer: but we’re not going to let them back in until they agree to start anew with justice, care and life at the heart of it. From the 1st we will peacefully blockade the UK, Welsh and Scottish parliaments until they agree to sign the Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill and commit to it being the first bill they debate when back in session.

UK-WIDE REGIONAL REBELLION – The plan so far!
- Fri 28th Aug: Mass banner drop across the UK plus Fossil Fuel-focused actions
- Sat 29th Aug: Airports and Aviation
- Sun 30th Aug: Gather your community (run assemblies locally, connect, listen, learn, talks, workshops, visioning)
- Mon 31st Aug: Permanent Bank ‘holiday’, finance-focused actions Tue 1st Sep onwards: Rebellion continues in Regions and goes to cities
- Tues 1st Sept: Start peacefully blockading parliament. XR Derby and XR Midlands will be in London.
- These themes will unite the UK in beautiful, coordinated, dispersed actions across our nations, regions and communities as we launch our Rebellion.
- Everyone is invited, your local group, affinity group or community to get creative and start planning actions and events under these unified theme days.

Join the rebellion
- Sign up to the rebellion with XR Derby, complete this form. There’s loads of ways everyone can help make the UK Government take serious action on the climate and ecological crisis. You don’t have to leave your home or be arrested to play a vital role in the rebellion!
- Save the dates – Tues 1st Sept and the days before and after if you can.
- Come to one of our online rebellion meetings or events. Find these on our site, newsletter and Facebook.
- Attend online talks and training sessions.
- Go to an online non-violent direct action training session.

Digital Rebellion
For rebels who are still shielding or unable to travel to one of the three cities, there will be a Digital Rebellion. This will involve spamming the social media accounts, email addresses, and telephone lines of government offices, shutting them down online. More on this to come soon.
