On 6th February 2019, Sheffield City Council declared a climate emergency, promising a plan for reducing their emissions, a citizen’s assembly and greater communication of the threats of the climate and ecological crisis on the Sheffield public.
Since then they have procrastinated, prevaricated and wasted time.
They have failed to act meaningfully, failed to tell Sheffield the truth, promised to deliver a citizen’s assembly by 31/12/19 but failed to set this up. They commissioned the Tyndall report but have failed to act meaningfully on it’s urgent recommendations
This is not good enough. We will demonstrate outside the Sheffield City Council meeting at 13:00 on Wed 5/2/20.
We plan theatre and die-ins and will also submit a variety of petitions to the council. Families and children are very welcome. We want to send a clear message to SCC that delay is unacceptable. We invite all groups that care about the environment in Sheffield to attend the demo.
